Autumn 2

AUTUMN 2 - Cycle B 2024-2025

Our class read this half-term is Darwin's Dragons by Lindsay Galvin.  It is based on the true life and discoveries of Charles Darwin and his theories on evolution, adaptation and inheritance.

Our class assembly was about Anti-Bullying week.  The children shared what each class had been doing and gave out some special prizes to children who had been spotted choosing respect and being kind.

The children had a visit to The Vue Cinema in Blackburn for part of Into Film week. They watched Kensuke's Kingdom which is one of our class novels.

The children visited Lancashire Museum and had lots of workshops on the 'secret' aspects of WWII. They had great fun whilst learning a lot ready for their history topic in January.

Class 4 visited the Cenotaph and laid a wreath on behalf of all the staff and children at Holy Trinity.

Emma from the Life Education Bus came to visit us to talk about the importance of looking after our bodies, friendships and staying safe.

We are learning lots about programming in our STEM lessons which are run by BFC in the Community.

The children have been improving their rugby skills in their PE lessons which are run by BFC in the Community.

Our English unit this half-term is based around the novel - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C S Lewis. The children will produce various genres of writing using the novel as a stimulus.

Thank you to Mrs Jenkinson who visited our class. Mrs Jenkinson is a Science teacher from Blessed Trinity and she asked the children to investigate the ink on pens to see who had written a note. The children produced a chromatograph and compared this against a sample from the note.
